An 18th-century Palace by the sea, a fascinating venue for events
Palazzo Lanza Tomasi is the ideal venue for hosting events of all kinds.
The Conference Suite, flooded with light and adorned with frescoed ceilings and white marble floors is a perfect space for hosting conferences, book presentations, art exhibitions and other cultural events. The Conference Suite consists of three rooms and accompanying facilities. It has an independent entrance from the lift and the grand marble staircase, and is accessible to disabled people.
The rooms are equipped with Wi-Fi, video projectors, screens and sound system and can accommodate about fifty people. Reception is entrusted to multilingual staff. Technical assistance and cafeteria services are available upon request, and, again upon request, a guided tour of the entire fascinating piano nobile, the main floor of the building, can be organized.
The piano nobile can also be visited by groups of no less than 15 people. The tour, usually conducted by the Duchess, winds through the sumptuous rooms decorated with furnishings that belonged to Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa and the Lanza di Mazzarino and Ruffo di Bagnara families. It is possible to admire, among other things, the Historical Library of Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa and the complete manuscript of Il Gattopardo (The Leopard) preserved in the splendid ballroom.
The piano nobile of the Palazzo, with its twelve windows overlooking the entire bay of Palermo and the view of Mount Pellegrino, is available for photo or film shoots. And so is the lush terrace, rich of Mediterranean and subtropical essences, where you can admire the fountains and the bench from the destroyed Palazzo Lampedusa, decorated with precious eighteenth-century majolica and the marble coat of arms of the Tomasi family.
In the vast halls of the piano nobile, for guests interested in art, culture, literature and Sicilian gastronomy, cocktails, luncheons or dinners can be organised, with the option of live music, and small intimate weddings as well. The Duchess personally oversees the design and preparation of the menus, which offer refined Sicilian cuisine with a unique twist. The traditional Sicilian dishes, often revisited by her, reflect the millenary influences of the different cultures that have alternated in the history of Sicily. Each of these events always includes a guided tour of the piano nobile of the Palazzo. The visit is a fascinating journey through the history, art and culture of Sicily and offers the exceptional privilege of a glimpse into the cultural legacy of one of the greatest authors in the world.
The Duchess also organises Sicilian cooking classes (“A Day Cooking with the Duchess”), a fascinating culinary and cultural experience of a day that includes a visit to the picturesque Capo market, a hands-on cooking lesson in the kitchen of the Palazzo and a lunch in the grand dining room. The guided tour of the splendid piano nobile represents the final and culminating moment of the entire experience.
